Job Purpose:
Meets maintenance quality, cost and service standards by supervising employees performing the repair and maintenance of rental equipment, tools and vehicles across the district's multiple locations and multiple geographies. Ensures safe practices and compliance with standard maintenance and repair procedures.
Essential Functions:
Manages day-to-day shop operations of district Branch locations by overseeing maintenance and repair activities involving mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and electrical systems. Prioritizes work orders and makes assignments for each Branch location. Provides technical guidance by helping diagnose problems or interpret procedures for preventative maintenance, maintenance and equipment repair.
Meets or exceeds safety standards by supervising activities and working with each Branch Manager, District Manager and the Region Service Manager to ensure that procedures are properly communicated and followed.
Helps implement any location safety programs to ensure the safety of employees and customers. Keeps accurate records by preparing and checking logs and reports on shop activities and maintenance. Increases operational effectiveness by having a significant impact on recruiting, training, developing and retaining qualified employees.
Maintains District and multiple locations' focus on service measurements by communicating consistently with all levels within the District; following up on Service Bulletins; following up on and executing required Preventative Maintenance schedules; ensuring implementation of appropriate internal and external service, shop flow and technical training and development; establishing and monitoring parts inventory and controls; ensuring proper shop procedures and housekeeping actions are followed;
Drives decisions around each location's major repair decisions; ensuring field conformity with Company programs, policies, and procedures; ensuring effective training and use of company computer systems that support service and parts management.
Ensures the availability and proper distribution of mechanical tools, supplies, special equipment, and service vehicles. Works with each Branch Manager in providing recommendations regarding the most cost-effective repair method.
Sustains an effective service program by evaluating results and by making recommendations to improve service/maintenance efficiency, equipment safety, and District profitability. Ensures satisfactory resolution of equipment warranty issues by working with the corporate Service and Warranty Department. Monitors effectiveness of billing back customer damages and works with Risk team on loss and damage waivers or insurance recovery.
Three to five years managerial experience in maintenance required. Completion of high School diploma or equivalent required; related Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree or equivalent technical training preferred. Proven, effective communication skills required. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations. Must have strong analytical skills and be able to establish effective priorities and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Physical Demands(Physical Demands or Exposures) : Lift up to 50 lbs. Climb on and off equipment and stand or sit for extended periods of time. Travel up to 50% of time via company vehicle.
