CODER (CREDENTIALED) - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT - FULL TIME/DAYS (INTERNAL ONLY)
Title: CODER (CREDENTIALED) - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT - FULL TIME/DAYS (INTERNAL ONLY) Location: TN-Bartlett Other Locations: Reviews and interprets medical record information to accurately assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes. Working knowledge of DRG and APC's. Appropriately utilizes encoder software and/or coding reference books. Responsible for understanding and accurately applying Coding Clinic guidelines. Abstracts codes and clinical information utilizing the SoftMed Clintrac computer system based on interpretation and collection of documentation in the Electronic Patient medical record on inpatient and/or outpatient medical records. Assists with monitoring bill hold report. Assists with working the APC edit report. Assists with daily Smart reviews as necessary Education : High school graduate or equivalent. Anatomy and Physiology Medical Terminology
Must have at least one year of acute care coding experience with inpatient or outpatient records, and Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P), Certified Procedural Coding (CPC)
Experience: Prefer at least one year of acute care coding experience with inpatient or outpatient records, and credentials as listed under education. Ability to demonstrate sufficient keyboard familiarity to perform job functions.
Professional Requirement : Ability to successfully complete the Tenet coding exam
Certifications : RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P or CPC required.
